Website optimisation can become overly focused on reaching a particular performance score. Scores are useful diagnostics, but customers do not experience a number from a testing tool.
They experience a journey.
A site can achieve an excellent score on a cached landing page and still have a frustrating checkout. Another site may have a slightly weaker laboratory score but provide consistently responsive interactions throughout the complete funnel.
